Keep Holding On

You're not alone
Together we stand
I'll be by your side
You know I'll take your hand

Rosalie sighed happily, leaning further into her husband’s side, lacing her fingers into his. They were ‘watching’ a movie, although she wasn’t very interested, despite the fact she had forced Emmett into watching a romance movie, rather than the usual comedy or bloody gore-fests he usually chose, she couldn’t bother to listen to some girl whine on and on about how her friend was so clue-less, and whatnot. She turned to face Emmett, about to tell them they could stop watching the movie, only to see he was deeply engrossed in the chic-flick. She shook her head, smiling, and turned her gaze back to their entwined fingers.

When it gets cold
And it feels like the end
There's no place to go
You know I won't give in
No I won't give in

Sometimes, she still couldn’t believe she had gotten so lucky. Just when she had truly had enough, truly realized she could never be happy with her ‘family’, her meager life, her entire existence, she was proven wrong. She was given yet another chance. Another chance at happiness, at life. At love. She was given Emmett. She can’t remember what possessed her to go hunting alone that day, in that direction. And she doesn’t care about the cause, just the outcome. Just the part where her ‘happily-ever-after’ began to be fulfilled.

Keep holdin' on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just, stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for you
I'm here for you

Looking down at their intertwined fingers yet again, she smiled when she saw her engagement ring sparkling in the sun, the rays reflecting in Emmett’s wedding ring. She knew her life didn’t turn out the way that she had expected it to. Not the way she had wanted it to. But she wouldn’t trade it for the world. Not unless Emmett came with her. She could make it through anything with him by her side; he gave her strength, showed her she did matter. That she was loved. And, no matter how many times she screwed up, he was always there for her. Always there to just wrap her in his muscular embrace and help her to instantly feel better. Every time she got depressed, remembered everything she had lost along with her mortality, she’d see him, his beautiful face, his dimples that somehow were still there after the transformation, and she’d remember that it was all worth it. That she wouldn’t want to be human if he wasn’t right there by her side.

There's nothing you can say (Nothin' you can say)
Nothing you can do (Nothin' you can do)
There's no other way when it comes to the truth

Her family always tried to cheer her up when she would get into one of her moods. One where she suddenly resented everyone. When Emmett was away hunting, they were horrible. Nothing they could say would change anything. No matter how much they all wished it could, it couldn’t. They couldn’t do anything about it, but they always tried to make her feel better, it just made her feel worse. And then Emmett would come home, and he always just…knew when she needed him. No words exchanged, just an unspoken understanding. And he’d wrap his arms around, magically making everything okay. He knew she didn’t need him to say anything, not to lie about the truth, he knew he just had to be there for her. And he always was.

So, keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

So far away
I wish you were here
Before it's too late
This could all disappear

She’s always afraid of losing him. Why would somebody as amazing as him stay with an egotistical, unworthy, horrible bitch like her? He says he’s the lucky one, but he’s wrong. He could do so much better, but he doesn’t want to. And she’s always afraid he’ll leave before she can truly change, that she’ll be too late. He assures her she is perfect as she is. And she knows he means it when he says it.

Before the doors close
And it comes to an end
With you by my side
I will fight and defend
I'll fight and defend, Yeah yeah

She knew that if they stood together, they could win any fight. No matter what the odds, when they were united, Emmett became a thousand times stronger, Rosalie more menacing. Because, if they were fighting for each other, they would win. Before they would simply give up, they would fight for the other. And they would win.

Keep holdin' on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just, stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for you
I'm here for you

Subconsciously rubbing her thumb over Emmett’s hand, she gave a soft, happy sigh. She liked times like this, times when they were just together, blissfully unaware of anything else. It often annoyed them how, well, basically everyone assumed their relationship to be more physical than emotional. Which was completely wrong. They needed and loved each other just as much as Carlisle and Esme, Edward and Bella, even Jasper and Alice. Whenever Edward remarked otherwise, she wanted to lunge at him, tear him to pieces, and prove to him, that, for once, he was wrong. But Emmett, as if he could sense that, would protectively wrap his arm around her, being strong for her.

There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

Hear me when I say
When I say I believe
Nothing's gonna change
Nothing's gonna change destiny

She believed in him. When she saw him being mauled by the bear, she believed he could make her happy, and, just maybe she would make him happy too. Since the night, the night she was almost killed, she had been convinced that fate wanted her to be miserable, and that nothing could possibly change that. Nothing would change her destiny. Then she saw him, and she realized maybe she could change her destiny. She could make herself be in control of her future. Now, years later, as she sits beside him, each kiss still like their first, she realizes that she didn’t change her fate, that it was always in her cards to meet Emmett. Nothing would change her destiny.

Whatever's meant to be
Will work out perfectly
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...

She still couldn’t believe her luck sometimes. Especially times like this, times when she could just relax by him, be herself, appreciate him. And the fact she had the only husband in the entire world that actually enjoyed chic flicks helped a little. She couldn’t believe how well it had all worked out. She supposed, since it had worked out better than ever imagined, that it had been meant to be.

La da da da, la da da da da
La da da da da da da da da

Rosalie looked up suddenly when loud music filled the room. When her eyes landed across the television, she realized the credits had started to roll. She glanced at Emmett.

“So, how’d you like it?” She teased.

“I only watched it for you, babe. It was all rather boring,”

“Oh, so that’s why your eyes were glued to the screen. Interesting…”

Rather than answer her, Emmett simply lifted her into his arms bridal style, heading up the stairs to their room, as her soft, melodious laughter echoed in the small room.

Keep holdin' on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for you
I'm here for you

There's nothing you can say
Nothing you can do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through

Ahh, ahh
Ahh, ahh
Keep holdin' on
Ahh, ahh
Ahh, ahh

Keep holdin' on
There's nothing you could say
Nothing you could do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So, keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
